Jesse Jackson, Jr. praises Howard Dean

/ 4 November 2003

Ok, there’s been a ton of Democrats cringing because Howard Dean suggested that he wanted to attract the votes of people who drive cars with confederate flag decals on them, because “their kids don’t have health insurance either, and their kids need better schools, too.” Rather than spending a lot of time deconstructing or reframing this statement, I’ll just point off to Jesse Jackson, Jr.’s recent praise for Dean. The point Jackson’s making — with which I agree! — is that we need to build a broad, grassroots coalition, and not allow Bush to stay in office one day longer than absolutely necessary.
