The need for art

I’m so behind!!! I wish that I had the time and space to be writing regularly in here, and given that it’s summer I worry about what will happen once our term begins. It’s hard for me to see how it will get any better. Still, today as I was driving to pick up the kids I happened to hear Andrei Codrescu’s latest commentary on National Public Radio’s show “All Things Considered.” It was a pointed and eloquent argument for art, particularly given the “demon of conformity” with which we are contending. I recommend taking a couple of minutes to listen to it.
