Enjoying the sun and wind at Kelley’s…

/ 9 August 2003

I haven’t written for a few days, and I probably won’t add much now, but I had to take a moment to share the beauty of Himmelblau, a bed&breakfast at Kelley’s Island, Ohio (an island in Lake Erie). We’re here with Eric’s family, at the annual “Celeste Fest” — a huge gathering of his clan for the weekend. The house is right next to a small, uncontrolled airstrip, so every so often tiny little planes fly in or out. It’s really fun to watch them take off over the waves of the lake, or to come in for quiet landings. I hadn’t realized how much I needed a break this summer, so even though I’m way behind on all sorts of work, this weekend I’m just playing with kids (most of whom are nieces and nephews — this clan is really growing!).
