Thinking about God

I love how this student is reflecting on what she’s doing in seminary, and I believe she’s demonstrating deeply Lutheran theology in doing so. Yet she is also noting one of the more painful dynamics at our place:

Sometimes in class discussions, I start to wonder if the question we’re trying to answer is “But is it Lutheran?” instead of “But is it true?” And I have a creeping, dread-filled suspicion that there are times and spaces where the second question is irrelevant so long as you have the right answer to the first.
