R. T. Rybak for governor

/ 4 January 2010

So… there’s a governor’s election coming up in Minnesota this next year, and since Eric serves on a DFL committee we’ve been getting a lot of phone calls from the various DFL candidates seeking his support. Tonight R.T. Rybak called.

I had a GREAT conversation with him -- which in itself was a good sign, since several of the other candidates didn't bother to talk with me once they found out Eric wasn't home. He made some excellent points about his candidacy (his experience as an executive, being a successful mayor of Minnesota; his widespread name recognition; his demonstrated skills as a campaigner, his progressive commitments to education, health care, job creation, etc.). He was already a candidate I was interested in, given his early support both for Howard Dean in 2004, and as chair of the MN committee for Obama. But I have to say that his phone call tonight really got me energized -- and that's probably the best sign of all!

So consider this an early nudge towards taking him seriously for governor, and consider taking up his cause at the February 2nd precinct caucuses.
