There’s a fascinating piece in the NYTimes about a school that seeks to reach teens with autism, and create an effective learning environment WITH them. I was quite moved by the article, and couldn’t help wondering what it would be like for every child to have such a caring and effective environment to learn within. Part of what “special” education can teach us, is how to adapt learning for each child’s individuality, while still remembering that learning is a participatory, shared endeavor.
