Surprised by this

/ 14 March 2008

Ok, clearly I haven’t been following the FISA legislation debate enough. I knew that retroactive immunity for the telecom industry was a problem, and I’ve been lobbying against that, but I had no idea that part of the argument the MSM is repeating about why we need it is an outright lie. Apparently they keep arguing that we need this because it would help protect telecom companies who cooperated with the US government in the wake of 9/11. But the deception here is that apparently some of this was already going on prior to 9/11, and that’s what they’re seeking immunity for. Of course, that’s why we have judges (and hence don’t need this legislation). Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, and nothing would surprise, along comes this additional piece of data…. Sigh.
