Best practices in young adult faith formation

/ 16 January 2008

It’s fascinating: the eight things identified by a major research project as “best practices in young adult faith formation” — are also key elements of learning-centered practice. In other words, if you set up excellent learning environments that are focused on supporting learning (as opposed to teacher-centered spaces), you encourage these best practices.

It should go without saying, but I'm not surprised by this. I am, however, surprised by how many people seem to think this is "new" information. I guess it is, in the sense of having been affirmed by empirical research -- and that's a very good thing. This post also does a good job of providing some concrete strategies for implementing these practices in a congregational setting.
