UCC efforts against the war

/ 13 September 2007

The UCC has started an unprecedented effort to gather signatures on a petition against the war. Given the extent to which the diocesan Roman Catholic authorities here provide me with opportunities (like pre-addressed postcards handed out at the end of a liturgy) on which to lobby the legislature against stem cell research, it pains me to note that I have never once been invited to this kind of anti-war activism by institutional authorities (although clearly many of us are active on the issue, anyway). Yet the Church has consistently argued against the Iraq war.
