Celebrate Loving v. Virginia

/ 5 August 2007

Thanks to the BBC, I learned that June 12, 1967 was the day that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Richard and Mildred Loving, an inter-racial couple who married in Virginia (where it was illegal at the time). In some ways it continues to bug me that this was only 40 years ago! But in another sense, perhaps we have managed to make some small changes, and perhaps marriage equality will some day be true for all people in the US. In any case, here’s an organization — LovingDay.org — dedicated to keeping the memory of the Loving’s fight and victory alive.
