Coordinated framing

/ 7 September 2006

Look, I’ve been trying for days now to figure out why it is that Rumsfeld and Cheney have been invoking the notions of appeasement and the Nazis, because frankly, there are more useful comparisons to be made between our current government and the early Nazi government, than there are in the ways that Rumsfeld and Cheney are doing it. It seems dangerous to me for them to invoke that meme.

But here's a biting post that connects some dots, and suggests that in fact those comments were simply early stages in a massive re-framing that's going on, attempting -- once again -- to label the Democrats "soft on terrorism." I haven't been paying as much attention as perhaps I should have to the upcoming ABC special on 9/11, but based on the Net's critiques, it appears it could very easily have been a deliberate element created in this new framing. Sigh. I hope that the writer of the post spurs enough Net-based people to investigate, and then that the mainstream media still has it in them to share what is learned...
