The rise of the super rich

/ 21 July 2006

TheCorner has done us all a favor by including, in its entirety, a searing account from the NYTimes of the economic shifts taking place all around us in the US. Read it.

He is sickened, as am I, but I am also angry. This shift is the outcome of deliberate public policy choices. We live in a democracy, which means each of us is involved in this. Remember the slogan from the 60's -- "silence is complicity"?-- well, we need to stand up and be counted on this issue. This policy direction is wrong, morally wrong, and is hurting far more people today -- and will continue to do so tomorrow -- than flag burning does, than gay marriage ever could, than even stem cell research could. Go to your local legislator, your federal legislators, and complain. And then go to your neighbors and organize!
